CHIEF MINISTER TO MEET FOREIGN SECRETARY
The Chief Minister, Peter Caruana, will be meeting the Foreign Secretary Robin Cook over an informal dinner at the Foreign Secretary's official residence at Carlton Gardens tomorrow evening.
The occasion presents the opportunity for discussion in an informal atmosphere conducive to frankness and openness so necesary to the Gibraltar - UK relationship issues expected to be discussed are dialogue and the future management of relations with Spain, NATO, EU related matters, financial services passporting and the Moroccan repatriation programme, amongst others.
In addition the Chief Minister hopes to have a wide discussion with the Foreign Secretary on Constitutional development where he will be outlining the Government's ideas for modernisation.
It is expected that the Chief Minister will be accompanied at the dinner by the Minister for Trade and Industry and Deputy Chief Minister Peter Montegriffo and the Chief Secretary Ernest Monta do.
Before returning to Gibraltar on Thursday, the Chief Minister and his delegation will be meeting the Minister of State, Doug Henderson, and also, separately, senior officials at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, including the new Permanent Under Secretary, Sir John Kerr.
The Chief Minister will also meet with the Chairman of the Gibraltar Group in Parliament Dr. John Marek MP and other offices of the group. The Chief Minister has also given a wide range interview to BBC World TV for broadcasting in the run-up to the Dependent Territories Conference.
