The GCID
aims and
objectives
are

To further enhance the reputation of Gibraltar as a centre of excellence in international co-operation in relation to drug trafficking, money laundering and other major crime.

To acquire and develop intelligence relating to drug trafficking, money laundering and other major crime, which may involve persons or organisations in or with links to Gibraltar.

To provide law enforcement agencies in Gibraltar with refined intelligence relating to drug trafficking, money laundering and other major crime, with a view to the arrest, in Gibraltar or elsewhere, of those involved, or to the disruption of illegal enterprises.

GCID acts in support of the Gibraltar enforcement agencies and will not undertake operational duties. Operational duties remain the responsibility of the agencies to which they are presently assigned. At the request of the donor, GCID will not promulgate specified material.

GCID will
fulfil the
responsibilities laid to it by

Accepting tasking by Gibraltar based or other enforcement agencies with a view to enhancing intelligence concerning persons or organisations in or with links to Gibraltar suspected of drug trafficking, money laundering or other major crime.

Initiating intelligence gathering and development concerning the activities of drug traffickers, money launderers or suspected major criminals, in or with links to Gibraltar, with a view to promoting action by Gibraltar based or other enforcement agencies.

Establishing or further enhancing working relationships with international law enforcement agencies.

Developing a network of information sources relating to drug trafficking, money laundering or other major crime.

Developing gateways to relevant databases held by enforcement agencies in Gibraltar and elsewhere.

Establishing a database concerning persons or organisations suspected of involvement in drug trafficking, money laundering or other major crime with links to Gibraltar.
