Life Line Edward

Bringing aid to Malawi and African children in need

At present the charity is making new plans for a further expedition and enquiries are starting to be made as to it's viability. This project is to be different from the other expedition, in a sense that it will be purely for fund raising. The donations given will be used to purchase goods, and equipment with a further expedition in order to personally deliver the goods and equipment purchased.

The forthcoming October 1998 expedition fund raiser will be taking form in the following manner Four stages are envisaged;

1st stage will be the taking of six vehicles, to the port of departure where they will be transported by sea to Cape Town in South Africa ( the vehicles cannot be escorted by the drivers ) the sea journey taking approximately five weeks.

2nd stage three members of the team will leave Gibraltar to travel to Cape Town, a few days prior to the ship carrying the vehicles docking at Cape Town. The reason for this is to ensure that all the paperwork necessary is in order for the clearance of the vehicles and no hold ups are incurred.

3rd stage the main team, drivers, riders, and film crew will leave Gibraltar onward to Cape Town to coincide with the release of the vehicles from customs at that port.

4th stage, this is the EASY part the six vehicles with their drivers and the riders with their mountain bikes will then leave Cape Town, and travel through South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Malawi, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Zaire, Central African Republic, Chad, Niger, Mali, Mauritania, Western Sahara, Morocco, onto Gibraltar.

(route may change according to circumstances at the time) Other countries which may be visited include Angola, Zambia, Congo, and Cameroon.

The idea of the project is to raise a target of 2,000,000 or more 50% will be donated to the Special Olympics here in Gibraltar, the other 50% will be to purchase vehicles such as 4x4 ambulances, medical supplies and equipment, educational equipment and other goods, it will then be distributed by Life Line Edward to the sixteen countries visited, this will be the 1999 project.

This story is to remind you of our past expedition, we ourselves will not need to be reminded, as we will never forget the children in the hospitals and orphanages that we visited. Remember we all take necessities for granted. Please don't forget them.
